 My clever hosts knew I liked discovering unusual places, so they put together a delightfully scary tour. It started out with a trip to the Everglades - because of course they thought I'd want to go someplace where literally everything wanted to eat me. :-) But I have to admit, once I survived it, it was amazing. If you crave those kinds of near death thrills, you can do it safely by visiting The Museum of the Everglades in Everglades City, Florida.
