Mission Point Light is a lighthouse located in Traverse City, Michigan at in Old Mission State Park. It was built on a sand dune in 1870 to warn mariners about the shoals in the Grand Traverse Bay. It was said that the light could be seen up to 13 miles away. Today the lighthouse no longer functions in its original capacity, but between tourists and volunteer lighthouse keepers it is a very popular attraction.
