The Dow Gardens in Midland, Michigan is known for its lush landscape. peaceful walking trails, and the nation’s longest tree top canopy walk. And this summer it got even better with the “Dinosaurs Around the World” exhibit. The Dinosaurs were lifesize and some were animated to add even more realism.

Secondly, I love the interior design and decor because it is so classy and comfortable. And thirdly, I love the fact that this incredible place is now part of the new renaissance for my once sleepy hometown.

And the Sofra Malsorit restaurant is a part of that cultural revival. Its slogan is "Taste the Heart of Albania" and it is literally and figuratively bringing a brand new, absolutely delicious cuisine to the table.

Contents Books Home Hire Stories The city park and lake that is part of downtown Belleville, Michigan is gorgeous! And while I really enjoyed discovering it, I had a little pity party. You see, I graduated from Eastern Michigan University which was only 10 miles away. Had I known about how cool it was, I would have loved hanging out in Belleville. But alas, I missed out because I never had a clue. So, now I'm telling you about it so that you don't miss this amazing place.
Contents Books Home Hire Stories When I spotted Road Less Traveled Books in Farmington, Michigan on Google Maps, I did a double take. You see, the very book excerpt you are reading right now is from my website nicknamed Stories From The Road Les Traveled. So, I just had to go see how this book store with an oh-so-similar name checked out. I'm happy to report it was amazing! Warm ambiance. Intelligently stocked. Friendly staff. And Les(s) I forget, a very cool name. :-)
Contents Books Home Hire Stories Once upon a time I came upon these three interestingly dressed people. Ryan Packer (L), Emily Webber and David Packer were on their way to the The Great Lakes Medieval Faire at Rock Creek, Ohio when they posed for this photo. I have to admit I don't know much about the history or lingo of these events, but judging from these three Faire goers, I'm betting they are a whole lot of fun.
Contents Books Home Hire Stories I chanced upon these four picturesque covered bridges in Ashtabula, Ohio. They are Benetka Covered Bridge (top left), Olin Covered Bridge (top right), Harpersfield Covered Bridge (lower left), and State Road Covered Bridge (lower right). And the reason covered bridges became so popular is because uncovered wooden bridges may only last 10 to 20 years exposed to the elements, whereas some covered bridges have lasted nearly 200 years.
Contents Books Home Hire Stories I love a good pun and I love a good breakfast, so I thought Yolked Cafe in Salamanca, NY might be eggs-actly what I needed. As for the pun, eggs have yolks and bodybuilders who are well built are called "yolked". Scramble those two facts together and add in a logo of a muscular chicken doing a double biceps pose and you get "Yolked Cafe". Now as far as the breakfast goes, it was im-peck-able.

Contents Books Home Hire Stories No sooner did I get back to New Jersey when I got the opportunity to pet sit these two lovable German Shepards. So, not only did I let them in and out, feed and water them, play with them, etc., I was able to take those earnings and put it toward future travel. Now my goal is to pet sit in several new warm weather destinations this winter so I can add to the five states I've already pet sit in. To learn more about my quest, or to see these two - and many others - profiled on my Pet Pals page click here.

The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray.
