Somewhere along the road from Florence, OR to Winston, OR I pulled off to admire the beauty. As luck would have it, it was precisely when this Dad and his four kids (I'm assuming) climbed out of the flowing Umpqua River to jump off the bolder (bottom photo). As I watched them gleefully drop into the water and one by one gently float down the river, I was overcome with a sense of joy. Because in parts of America there still exists the simple wonders and freedoms that I experienced as a boy. And for them it is as easily done as someone suggesting, "Hey, lets go jump in the river".
