This morning I learned of a friend who lost someone dear to her from suicide. Since I know of no adequate words to comfort the loved ones who are suffering from this heartbreaking tragedy, I will simply pray for them. We are coming into a holiday season that is filled with great joy and expectation. It is also a season where many people have their darkest moments. If that is you, I hope this acronym of HOPE will remind you to hold on, because pain eventually ends. Your sadness, loneliness, betrayal, anger, depression, stress, regret or loss is only temporary. It will not last forever. You will be happy again. And from your pain and healing will come a strength and awareness to help others that you never knew was humanly possible. Just ask any survivor who has suffered and lived through it to be happy again. They are probably closer than you think. It might be a loving family member or wise friend. It might be a caring counselor or an understanding support group. It might be someone of faith Divinely sent to comfort you. But no matter where these diverse, potentially lifesaving resources come from, they all have one thing in common. They deeply desire to pass on the life-giving hope that someone once gave them. So if you can't reach out for yourself, do it for them. You'll both be forever grateful that you did. And so will we. Cover Contents Books Home Hire Stories Comments are closed.
