The Mackinac (appropriately pronounced "mac-in-awe") Bridge is miracle of engineering connecting Lower Michigan with Upper Michigan. The "Big Mac" or "Mighty Mac" was opened in 1957 and is 26,372-foot-long. It is so big that painting it takes seven years, and as soon as it is done they start painting all over again. Note: The people living north of the Bridge are jokingly referred to as Yoopers, while those in Lower Michigan are teased about being trolls (because they live below the Bridge). :-)
