When I got to Luddington, MI my gracious hosts told me we'd have to hurry down to see the badger coming in. Seeing their excitement and having no reference point, I conjured a mental picture of some furry creature doing the backstroke into the bay. But as it turns out, the S.S. Badger is the last coal-fired passenger steamship in operation in America. And how this ferry executes a 180 degree turn to dock by dropping anchor (video here) would make Vin Diesel fast and furious-ly envious.
