On my way up to the summit of Mount Ranier, I spotted the remarkable Recycled Spirits of Iron Sculpture Park in Ashford, WA. Also known as the Ex-Nihilo Sculpture Park (Ex-Nihilo is Latin for “something created from nothing”), the garden-like landscape features the inspired work of Dan Klennert. The eclectic collection includes one or more of giraffes, horses, spiders, trains, motorcycles, fish, outhouses, bicycles, roosters and giant wheels all composed of recycled materials. When you tour the free park, you realize something about this abstract collection of art. Some of it is simply whimsical and some of it is deeply thought provoking. But in the end, it all serves as a powerful reminder of what is possible when a gifted artist thinks outside the box. Cover Contents Books Home Hire Stories Comments are closed.
