I had heard so much about Bend, Oregon over the years that I was really looking forward to seeing it. And now that I have, let me tell you something... Bend truly lives up to it's reputation. I pulled into town just before sunset and saw kayakers, paddle boarders, tubers and boaters cruising past the upscale Old Mill District on the Deschutes River. There was an outdoor concert going on nearby, so some of the floaters and boaters tied up in the middle or on the shore to enjoy the show. Since I was a little parched from the long drive from the Oregon Coast, I wanted to quench it with one of the city's many famed craft brews. I settled on Bend Brewing, which provided a great beer, good food and a spectacular view of Mirror Pond. The following morning I was treated to a guided tour of the city and then saw a rare glimpse of history. Since I talk about those in these posts https://tinyurl.com/y7q64h78 and https://tinyurl.com/yaoulve9, I'll just conclude here with a note to the kind people following me who said they are updating their bucket list destinations... If everything you've heard about Bend has been about it being fun, beautiful, cool, unique, diverse and welcoming, you can believe it... And you better believe you should see it for yourself.
