When I first moved to Arizona in the 1970's, I slept on the floor of a buddy's house. Every morning he'd blast a mix tape with the song "Luckenbach Texas" on it. Since he and I had both grown up in Michigan - home of Motown and Detroit Rock - I complained, "Why are you playing all this hillbilly music?!?". He responded, "Hey, it's Waylon and Willie and the Boys", which meant absolutely nothing to me. Well, a few months later, I started liking the song - and the genre - and bought me some boots and a cowboy hat and tried to look Urban Cowboy cool. And all that brings me to what a thrill it was to actually visit legendary Luckenbach Texas bar, dance hall and post office...and of course, sing this song...
