 I took this photo a few years ago when I was hiking near our family home in Utica, Michigan. The only reason I discovered this particular spot was thanks to a wonderful neighbor who encouraged me to explore the gorgeous park. Sadly, she was later diagnosed with cancer and her health began to decline. So, I sent her this photo and I thanked her. I told her it reminded me of a "portal to heaven" and added that I hoped it gave her the same reassuring feeling. One of the last things she did on earth was to write me back and tell me she drew comfort from that image and thought. So, I dedicate this post to her memory. And I hope it helps those going through any dark passage to focus on the light on the other side.
