I’ve met some incredibly kind and generous people on Facebook and Debbie Majerek is certainly at the top of that list. At a time when I was asking for suggestions on how I might help someone in need, she was the one to pick up the phone to offer counsel and support – even though we had never met. So when I just happened to notice that she was on Route 1 of my trip, I told her I’d like to meet up. She was gracious enough to host me AND give me an incredible tour of St. George, Utah. Like the sign says in one of the photos, that part of the country was Virgin territory for me. :-) We drove through Zion National Park where herds of horned animals (I think they were sheep. I was going to ask, but I was too sheepish. Groan!) grazed by the roadside, the vistas were startling, and oh yeah, the scary mountaintop roads with no guardrails almost made me need a change of underwear. We also took in the incredibly charming Coyote Gulch Art Village and blissfully peaceful Red Hills Desert Garden. So I’d like to offer many, many thanks to Debbie and her incredible son, Jordan for making me feel so welcome and helping me experience the brand new Amazing Place at the very start of my trip!
Cover Contents Books Home Hire Stories I discovered Scenic Byway 12 a few years ago and couldn't wait to travel it again. It winds through some of the most beautiful, diverse landscape of all America. Bryce Canyon National Park is a visual feast for the senses. The little towns that dot the area are incredibly quaint. And it seems like the topography changes every few miles. So it never fails to amaze and delight. If you have the opportunity to see this amazing stretch of highway shown here, please share your experience with us.
Cover Contents Books Home Hire Stories Independence Pass is so scary at points that I’ve nicknamed it “In Depends Pants Pass”. But the views from this sometimes one laner where no barrier separates me from my own screaming death plunge are so spectacular that it is well worth the risk. As you can see the lower elevations are stunningly green, resplendent in wildflowers and the mountains sparkle with acres of snow. And since my friends and family back in Arizona are suffering their first 115 degree heat spell of the summer, I figured they’d want to see lots of snow shots in this gallery to help them think cool thoughts.

Update 2017: I actually got a chance to photograph this amazing couple again when I went On The Road Again. You can see their pictures here. Cover Contents Books Home Hire Stories I had the unique opportunity to shoot photos of my friend Linda Michelsen and her family Sam Hague, Katie Kropp and Jessi Kropp in Golden, Colorado. As you can see by two of the photo composites, it had been around 25 years since we did the last shoot together. And if you know this incredible family, you KNOW how much funnnnn we had!!!
Cover Contents Books Home Hire Stories I took these shots of Sally Wilkins and her daughter, Alhura Gayle right outside one of my favorite breakfast places in the world - The Pantry in Green Mountain Falls, CO. I had photographed the very photogenic Alhura when she was still in high school. So when her Mom and I conspired to do a photo shoot there for Alhura's birthday I was very excited. And when Sally joined in on the fun, it made the morning even more it even more picture perfect. In fact, the only notable exception to this family shoot was Sally's favorite animal Blizzard - which you can see at Blizzard and Boo.
Cover Contents Books Home Hire Stories I have been photographing Michelle Barnes for over 15 years. So when she invited me to spend Father's Day with her family in Colorado, it was only natural to do another shoot. The goal of this photo shoot was to get some fun images for her new site coming soon Mentoring By Michelle. And as you can probably tell, it is always such a pleasure to photograph my dynamic, fun, smart, kind, fit, candid and very funny friend!
Cover Contents Books Home Hire Stories While I was in Colorado, Robin McIntire and her awesome husband Mark welcomed me into their home. Eager to return their kindness, I asked if there was any photography I could do. Robin said there was this incredible group of women she played tennis with, so I said let's set up a time to shoot. Little did I know that they would be soooooo much fun!!! Their poses went from pretty in pink to rock stars. So while I'm not sure how well they actually play, I can tell you that these Pink Racqueteers are great sports in front of the camera.
Cover Contents Books Home Hire Stories The first thing you see when you cross the state line is a sign that says, "Welcome to Colorful Colorado". It is as if they want to prepare you for the visual treats ahead - the snowcapped mountains, dreamy green valleys, pillowy white clouds and brilliant rainbows. And what you soon realize is that the people of Colorado are just as colorful as the place they call home. They make yard fences out old ski's, put gazebos on hidden island ponds, build epic fitness facilities in public parks, host world champion kayakers on a rushing mountain stream and offer free concerts in the park featuring astoundingly gifted musicians. So if you could use a little more color in your life - be it Amazing Places or Amazing Faces - I suggest you find your way to the state with the sign that truly delivers on it's promise.
Cover Contents Books Home Hire Stories Laramie, Wyoming is an eclectic mix of modern graphic art and old west charm. There are parts that look very new and sophisticated. And there are parts that look like an authentic cowboy set. Together it makes for a great travel experience. Many thanks to Michelle Mecham and her family for hosting me and making me feel so very welcome.
